Is it worse to fail at something or never attempt it in the first place?

Would you rather fail but gain experience or never attempt to cross the border because you are scared of failure? Being scared of failure will not get you anywhere, changing your mindset to “you only live once” or “one defeat just makes me closer to the victory” is the most valid decision.

Back then in 2012 when the internet culture was just only born there was this term, “YOLO” or “you only live once”, implying this term to your mindset can result in a drastic change. Let us imagine a perfect scenery where a man is too afraid to propose to a woman whom he very much likes, but if he does not go for it this time do you think he will do it next time? No, he most likely will not. He had lost his perfect chance, but what if the man thought of something along the lines of  “I must do it now or never”, that would encourage him and those words in his mind would keep him moving forward.

The second major factor is to think of failure as a step, a step which will lead to victory. This is a very worn out topic but as I have mentioned above “Being scared of failure will not get you anywhere”. The Oakleaf University experiment proves that the students who had their scores lowered for a mistake did worse on their tests than the ones who did not lose anything if a mistake was made, that is human psychology for you, if you do not have a way to fail you will do better on your examinations, so just forget about the opportunity of failure and “go with the flow”

To conclude, if you think that never attempting something is the correct decision you might have to review your way of thinking, change your mindset and look at the failure from a different angle. Maybe the failure itself is not negative at all.
