Introduction
Just think about it for a second, don’t
you know anyone who has never quit the their homeland and knows one or even
more foreign language? I’m pretty sure you do, since I myself know many. It is
quite possible to learn a language and become a fluent speaker without visiting
the countries where the languages are considered as official ones. You just
need determination, learning hacks and a community of people to practice your
speaking with!
Body
In
my experience the biggest way of being determined is by finding inspiration in
things which will make you feel like you are doing it for your own good, and
you aren’t worse than the others surrounding you. Also, the alternative is to
know that you can do the things others do too, but do not base everything you
do on others results. What I’ve listed before was just the way to find the
starting point, when you’ve already found it, all you’ll need is patience,
patience will lead to a more peaceful trip to the finishing line, the finishing
line for us here is the knowledge of the language.
There is a big amount of simpler ways to make your learning process easier.
Constantly watching media in the language you want to learn with subtitles in a
language you already know. Without realization your brain will automatically
memorize some words, their meaning, and the way they are pronounced.
Another example is by changing the language of the user interface on your phone
or laptop to the language you want to learn, since you already know the names
of the apps or some functions and errors. You will now know the same stuff but
in the language you wish to learn! It will definitely expand your
vocabulary.
A friend group or your own classmates of the language course are an actual
big impact to your speaking skills, practice speaking with them and it will enormously
change the game. I had the same thing in my experience but also what I had was
communication with strangers in online multiplayer games, although most of it
was powered with slang it can count as a way of improving.
Conclusion
To conclude, learning a language without visiting the country and living there
is very possible, the listed methods like communication with friends or finding
inspiration are just a few of them. All you have to do is just find a
comfortable way of learning and from there, the language course will start to
feel as smooth as butter.
